The #5067 is a turned colonial baluster with a square top block, one of the standard stair parts used to fill the space between a stair tread or shoe rail and the handrail. The square section at the top is left plain so it can be cut to length and fitted square against the underside of the rail, while the lower portion carries the traditional turned colonial profile with a square base block that sits on the tread or shoe rail.

Balusters of this pattern are installed in sets, typically two per tread on a stair and at regular spacing along a level balcony run, and are fastened with dowel screws, pins or by fitting into plowed rail and shoe. The square top is cut on the rake angle for stair work and left square for level runs, so the same part serves both conditions.

Supplied unfinished so it can be stained, painted or clear-coated on site to match treads, newels and handrail.
