A flip-down door holder, also called a kickdown holder, mounts to the face of a door near the bottom rail and swings a pivoting arm down to the floor to hold the door open. It is the standard retrofit answer where a wall bumper is too far away, a hinge-pin stop lacks holding power, and nobody wants a floor-mounted stop drilled into finished tile or terrazzo.

The arm is set with the toe and released the same way, so the door can be parked open while carrying material or moving a cart through. Because the holder rides on the door rather than the floor, it works at whatever swing angle the arm happens to reach, and it lifts clear of the floor when not in use so the opening sweeps clean. Installation is surface mounting only: the base plate screws into the door stile or bottom rail, with fastener selection depending on whether the door is wood, hollow metal, or mineral core.
