A baluster shoe is the small collar that sits at the foot of a square iron baluster where it meets a stair tread, knee wall cap or floor. It conceals the drilled hole and any epoxy or adhesive used to set the baluster, and gives the bottom of the run a finished, consistent look along the whole flight.

The square opening is sized to the baluster stock it accepts, so the shoe slides over the bar and rests flat on the walking surface. Shoes of this style are typically secured with a small set screw against the baluster face once the baluster is plumbed, allowing the collar to be rotated and trimmed tight to the tread before it is locked in place.

Sold individually, so shoes can be counted one per baluster and mixed with matching shoes at the handrail where an installation calls for them at both ends.
