#68 11/16 in. x 5-1/2 in. x 12 ft. Oak Landing Tread
Landing tread is the finished nosing moulding used where a floor surface meets a stair opening. One long edge is milled with a rounded bullnose that projects past the riser or stringer below, while the opposite edge is rabbeted or tongued so it sits flush against the adjoining hardwood or engineered flooring. The result is a continuous, finished edge at the top of a stair run, at intermediate landings, and around balcony and loft openings.
This piece is milled from solid oak, a dense closed-grain hardwood that machines to a crisp profile and takes stain and clear finish well. Oak is the usual species for stair parts because it resists the denting and edge wear that nosings take from foot traffic. Unfinished stock can be sanded and finished on site to match existing treads, flooring or handrail.
