Bed moulding is a small sprung profile used to close the joint between a horizontal surface and a vertical one, most often under a soffit or crown assembly, at the top of a frieze board, or as a transition on cabinetry and mantels. This one is extruded from cellular PVC rather than milled from wood, so the profile is consistent from stick to stick and the material has no grain, knots or finger joints to telegraph through paint.

As a class, cellular PVC trim does not rot, absorb water or feed insects, which is why it is chosen for exterior cornice and rake details where wood trim historically fails first. It cuts and machines with standard carbide woodworking tooling, takes nails and screws, and can be bonded to itself with PVC trim cement for joints that behave as one piece. The material is white throughout, so it can be left unfinished or coated with a compatible exterior acrylic latex paint.
