Hot-rolled structural steel angle with unequal legs, supplied in a single mill length. The L-shaped cross section puts material at right angles to itself, which gives the bar stiffness in two planes and makes it one of the common shapes for lintels, bracing, framing and fabricated supports.

Unequal-leg angle is oriented so the longer leg carries the span or bearing while the shorter leg provides the outstanding flange for attachment. The section arrives as plain mill finish carbon steel, ready to be cut, drilled, bolted or welded on site or in the shop, and to be primed or galvanized after fabrication where exposure calls for it.

Any structural use should be sized and detailed by the project engineer or drawings; the listing describes the section only.

Key Features

  • Hot-rolled carbon steel angle with a 90-degree L-shaped cross section
  • Unequal legs, allowing the section to be oriented for either bearing or attachment
  • Uniform leg thickness through the full length of the bar
  • Plain mill finish, suitable for shop or field priming, painting or hot-dip galvanizing
  • Can be cut, drilled, punched, bolted or welded with standard structural steel methods
  • Supplied as a single piece in one mill length, sold each

  • Shelf angles and ledger supports
  • Bracing and cross-bracing in steel framing
  • Fabricated frames, posts and equipment stands
