A marble saddle is a solid stone threshold used to bridge the joint between two floor surfaces, most often at a bathroom doorway or where tile meets wood, carpet or vinyl. Cut from natural white marble, it takes the place of a metal or wood transition strip and gives a finished stone edge at the change in material or elevation.

Saddles are set in thinset or mortar like any other stone piece and are typically installed after the surrounding floor tile so the top face can be levelled to the finished surfaces on either side. The exposed faces are polished, and the stone can be cut to length on site with a wet saw and a continuous-rim diamond blade.

Because it is natural marble, colour and veining vary from piece to piece. Marble is a calcareous stone and responds to acids, so cleaning is done with pH-neutral products, and a penetrating sealer is commonly applied in wet areas to slow staining.
