Minwax Polyurethane Wood Finish is a clear, oil-modified protective topcoat for interior woodwork. It cures to a hard film that sits on the surface of the wood rather than soaking into it, taking the wear of foot traffic, cleaning, spills and furniture instead of the timber or the stain underneath.

This is the gloss sheen, the most reflective of the sheens the finish is offered in. Gloss throws the most light back off the surface, which deepens the appearance of grain and stain colour and makes an even, flowing application important, since a high-sheen film shows brush marks and dust nibs more readily than satin or flat does.

It goes over bare wood or over an oil stain that has fully dried, and is normally built up in several thin coats brushed or padded on with a light sanding between them to level the film and give the next coat something to key into.
