1 in. x 12 in. x 8 ft. Pine Board
Solid pine board in a nominal one-by dimension, surfaced on four sides and eased at the edges so it is ready to cut and fasten as it comes off the rack. Like all nominal softwood, the finished thickness and width are slightly under the stated size once the stock has been dressed.
Pine works easily with hand and power tools, holds a screw or finish nail without splitting when fasteners are set back from the ends, and accepts paint, stain and clear finish after light sanding. A wide one-by board of this kind is the usual choice for shelving, cabinet and closet parts, and built-up trim where a broad flat face is needed.
Boards are an interior material unless primed and finished on all faces; for exposed exterior work, a treated or naturally durable species is the better selection.
