A two-panel interior door slab with a solid core, supplied as a bare slab without hinges, bore or jamb. The solid core gives it the mass and stiffness that hollow-core doors lack, so it hangs more solidly, closes with less rattle and dampens sound between rooms better than a comparable hollow-core slab.

The two-panel face is a traditional stile-and-rail layout with a horizontal rail dividing the upper and lower panels. The 1-3/4 in. thickness is the standard heavy-duty slab thickness, which accepts full-size mortise or cylindrical locksets and standard butt hinges.

As a slab, it needs to be machined on site or at the shop: hinge gains cut to match the existing jamb, a lock bore and latch mortise laid out for the chosen hardware, and the bottom trimmed for the finished floor. Solid-core stock takes this machining cleanly and holds screws in the edges.
