Stair nosing is the protective edging fitted along the front lip of a tread, where foot traffic wears fastest. It caps the exposed edge of the step, hides the joint between tread and riser covering, and gives a defined visual edge on each step.

This piece has a fluted face, a series of ridges running the length of the profile that break up a smooth walking surface and add grip underfoot on the part of the tread that sees the most wear. The gold finish suits brass-tone hardware and railing schedules in lobbies, hallways and commercial corridors.

Nosings of this type are surface mounted to the tread with screws or adhesive, either during a new floor covering installation or as a retrofit over stair edges that have already worn or chipped.
