A vinyl stair tread is a molded covering installed over the walking surface of an existing or new stair tread, giving the step a finished wearing surface and a defined nosing edge. The round-nose profile wraps the leading edge of the step, covering the exposed nose and providing a consistent radius from one riser to the next.

Vinyl treads are used where a hard, cleanable, slip-resistant surface is wanted without carpet or hardwood. The material is homogeneous through its thickness, so surface wear does not expose a different-colored substrate, and the tread is normally set in stair-tread adhesive over a clean, sound, level substrate such as plywood, concrete, or metal pan stairs.

This tread is supplied in a brown (bark) color for use in service stairs, rental and multi-family stairwells, and other traffic areas where appearance is secondary to durability.
