Hot-rolled structural steel angle with unequal legs, supplied in a single 20 ft. length. The L-shaped cross section gives stiffness in two planes, which is why angle is the default choice for lintels, frames, braces and edge work where a flat bar would flex.

Unequal-leg angle lets the longer leg carry the span or bear the load while the shorter leg acts as the seat or attachment face. The material is bare mill-finish steel, so it can be cut, drilled, bolted or welded on site and then primed, painted or galvanized as the job requires.

Angle is stocked by leg dimension and thickness rather than by a nominal name, and the listed weight reflects the full length as supplied.

Key Features

  • Unequal-leg angle section, 4 in. by 3 in. legs at 1/4 in. thickness
  • Supplied in 20 ft. lengths, approximately 116 lb. per piece
  • Hot-rolled carbon steel with a bare mill finish, ready for paint, primer or galvanizing
  • L-shaped profile resists bending in two directions compared with flat bar of equal weight
  • Accepts standard fabrication work: saw or torch cutting, drilling, bolting and welding
  • Longer leg can be oriented to span while the shorter leg serves as a bearing or fastening face

Applications

  • Framing, bracing and gussets in fabricated steel assemblies
  • Shelf and ledger angles supporting masonry or decking
  • Equipment stands, racks, carts and machine bases
  • Corner and edge protection on concrete slabs, curbs and openings
  • Repair and reinforcement of existing steel and timber framing
  • Gate, railing and fence frame fabrication
