5-in-flip-down-door-holder-brass-608781066514
5 in. Flip-Down Door Holder, Brass

A kick-down door holder is a surface-mounted device fastened to the face of a door near the bottom rail. A hinged arm is pivoted down with a foot until it contacts the floor, wedging against it and holding the door open at whatever point in the swing it was dropped; a nudge of the toe swings the arm back up against the door where it stays clear of the threshold and floor covering.

The body and arm of this unit are brass, a non-ferrous alloy that does not rust and wears to a patina rather than flaking, which is why it is the traditional choice for door trim hardware that is handled and kicked daily. The base plate mounts with wood screws, so it installs on an existing door without mortising or drilling through the stile.

Unlike a fixed baseboard bumper or a hinge-pin stop, a kick-down holder both limits how far a door travels when engaged and keeps it from drifting shut, which makes it useful on doors that need to stand open for ventilation or for repeated traffic through a doorway.

Key Features

Brass construction throughout the arm and mounting base

Foot-operated arm flips down to the floor and retracts upward against the door when not in use

Holds a door open at any point in its swing rather than at one fixed position

Surface-mounts to the face of the door with wood screws, no mortising required

Brass is non-ferrous and corrosion resistant, suited to entry doors and humid interiors

Retracted arm sits clear of the floor so carpet, thresholds and sweeps are not dragged

Keeps a swinging door off adjacent walls and casing while engaged

Sold individually

Applications

Interior passage and bedroom doors that are regularly held open

Entry and vestibule doors during moving, loading or ventilation

Office, classroom and corridor doors in light commercial work

Utility, service and storage room doors

Screen, storm and side-entry doors on residential work

Period and restoration work where brass door trim hardware is specified

Product Details

Product Type: Kick-Down / Flip-Down Door Holder

Material: Brass

Arm Length: 5 in.

Mounting: Surface-mounted to door face, screw fixed

Operation: Foot-operated pivoting arm

Sold As: Each

Specifications

Size

5"

Material

Brass

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1012/7743/4195/files/5-in-flip-down-door-holder-brass-608781066514.webp?v=1790734493
