#6400 2-1/4 in. x 2-3/4 in. x 16 ft. Oak Handrail
Profile #6400 is a solid oak stair handrail milled to a traditional colonial shape, with a rounded top surface, finger grooves on both sides and a flat plowed or square back that seats against brackets, newel fittings or a rake wall. It ships as a single continuous length ready to be cut, mitered and fitted on site.
Oak is a dense, closed-grain hardwood that machines cleanly, holds fasteners well and takes stain or clear finish evenly, which is why it remains the standard species for finished interior stair rail. The rail is supplied unfinished so it can be sanded and finished to match treads, balusters and trim after installation.
Handrail of this type is installed over balusters on an open stair, mounted on brackets along a closed stringer wall, or joined to newel posts with rail bolts and matching easings, volutes and returns from the same profile family.
