Pro Dope Pipe Joint Compound, Gray

Hercules Pro Dope is a brush-grade pipe joint compound used to seal tapered threaded connections in plumbing, heating and mechanical piping. It is an oil-based, soft-setting thread sealant with a smooth, uniform consistency that stays put on the threads instead of running off the fitting during assembly.

Applied to the male threads before make-up, a pipe dope of this kind fills the spiral leak path left between engaged threads, lubricates the joint so it draws up tighter with less effort, and leaves a coating that helps the connection come apart again later without galling or seizing. Because it does not harden, the joint can be broken and remade during service work. The gray color reads as a close match to metal pipe on exposed runs.

The manufacturer lists it for lines carrying water, natural gas (except oxygen), air, steam, ammonia, brine, and dilute acids and alkalis, and it is low odor, non-hardening and non-toxic.

Key Features

Oil-based, soft-setting thread sealant with a smooth, uniform consistency for drip-free application

Non-hardening, so threaded joints can be broken loose and remade for service

Listed by the manufacturer for lines carrying water, natural gas (except oxygen), air, steam, ammonia, brine, and dilute acids and alkalis

Low odor and non-toxic; wipes clean from hands and tools

Gray color blends with metal piping on exposed work

Called out by the manufacturer for use with CPVC piping systems; confirm suitability with the pipe maker before using on PVC

Fills the spiral leak path between engaged tapered threads and lubricates the joint during make-up

Brushed onto the male threads before assembly, the standard method for applying a paste thread sealant

Applications

Threaded black iron and galvanized steel pipe joints in residential and commercial plumbing

Threaded connections on hydronic heating and steam piping

Compressed air lines and shop utility piping

Threaded fittings, valves, unions and nipples on gas piping installed by a qualified trade

Service and repair work where a joint may need to be broken and remade

Water supply and pump piping assembled with tapered pipe threads

Product Details

Brand: Hercules

Manufacturer: Oatey

Product Line: Pro Dope

Type: Pipe joint compound / threaded pipe sealant

Base: Oil-based, soft-setting

Color: Gray

Net Weight: 16 oz.

Application Method: Brush on male threads before assembly

Specifications

Weight

16 OZ

Brand

Hercules

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1012/7743/4195/files/hercules-16-oz-pro-dope-pipe-joint-compound-gray-32628154278.webp?v=1790734462
https://arch-9365.myshopify.com/es/products/hercules-16-oz-pro-dope-pipe-joint-compound-gray-32628154278
