4-in-x-4-ft-x-8-ft-green-xps-foam-board-insulation-gf4
4 in. x 4 ft. x 8 ft. Green XPS Foam Board Insulation

Green rigid foam board is extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation, a closed-cell foam plastic panel used wherever a continuous layer of insulation has to sit in or against an assembly. The board is dense enough to handle on a jobsite without crumbling, cuts cleanly with a utility knife and straightedge, and can be scored and snapped to fit around framing, penetrations and footings.

Because the cell structure is closed, XPS absorbs very little water and holds its insulating value in damp locations, which is why it is the common choice for below-grade and below-slab work where fibrous insulation would not survive. Boards are typically installed in butted courses and held with foam-compatible adhesive, plate fasteners, or simply the weight of the slab or backfill above them, with joints staggered to limit thermal bridging.

Thicker boards like this one are used where a single layer has to carry the whole insulating load of the assembly - under a slab pour, against a foundation wall before backfill, or as a continuous exterior layer outboard of the sheathing. As with all foam plastic insulation, interior installations are covered by a finish material rather than left exposed.

Key Features

Closed-cell extruded polystyrene (XPS) board - a rigid foam plastic insulation panel

Green board colour, the usual identifier for this class of XPS insulation

Low water absorption; retains insulating performance in damp and below-grade locations

Cuts and shapes with a utility knife, handsaw or hot wire - no special tooling

Lightweight and rigid, so a single installer can place full boards and butt them tight

Compatible with foam-board adhesive, plate-and-screw fasteners and furring strips

Full-thickness board suited to single-layer continuous insulation rather than built-up layers

Sold by the piece

Applications

Under-slab insulation beneath concrete floor slabs

Exterior foundation and basement wall insulation ahead of backfill

Interior basement walls behind furring and finish board

Continuous exterior insulation over wall sheathing

Perimeter and frost-protection insulation at footings and slab edges

Insulated masonry cavity walls

Cold-room, freezer and refrigerated slab assemblies

Roof insulation in conventional and protected-membrane assemblies

Product Details

Product Type: Rigid foam board insulation

Material: Extruded polystyrene (XPS)

Cell Structure: Closed cell

Colour: Green

Form: Flat board

Unit of Sale: Each (piece)

Specifications

Size

8'

Color

Green

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1012/7743/4195/files/arch-placeholder-coming-soon_e4d2ff3b-6bc7-4b2f-a023-8f2e1d7adaa7.webp?v=1790259802
