gaf-20-ft-hip-ridge-cap-shingles-hickory-hrhickgaf
GAF 20 ft. Hip & Ridge Cap Shingles, Hickory

Hip and ridge cap shingles are the pre-formed asphalt caps that finish the peaks and hip lines of a shingle roof. They fold over the angle of the framing and lap one over the next, closing the most exposed joint on the roof against wind-driven rain while giving the ridge a defined, uniform shadow line. Using a manufactured cap instead of field-cut three-tab pieces means each unit is already sized, scored and surfaced for the bend, so the installer works faster and the cap weathers in step with the field shingles.

This is GAF's cap shingle in the Hickory blend, a warm brown granule mix meant to coordinate with GAF architectural and strip shingles in the same family of colors. Like all asphalt cap shingles, it is built on a fiberglass mat coated in asphalt and surfaced with ceramic-coated mineral granules, and it carries a factory sealant strip that bonds each course to the one below once the roof warms.

Caps are sold by the bundle and estimated in linear feet of hip and ridge, including any run over a shingle-over ridge vent. They are the last course installed on the roof, nailed so that each fastener is covered by the following cap.

Key Features

Pre-formed asphalt cap shingle for hips and ridges, replacing hand-cut strip shingle pieces

Fiberglass-reinforced asphalt construction surfaced with ceramic-coated mineral granules

Factory sealant strip bonds each cap to the course below once heated by the sun

Formed to bend over the ridge and hip line without cracking the mat

Hickory color blend, a warm brown granule mix intended to coordinate with matching field shingles

Each cap conceals the nails of the preceding course, keeping fasteners out of the weather

Installs over shingle-over ridge vent as well as directly on a solid ridge

Packaged in bundles and estimated by linear feet of hip and ridge run

Applications

Capping ridges and hip lines on new asphalt shingle roofs

Finishing a tear-off and re-roof to match the field shingle color

Covering the nailing flanges of a shingle-over ridge vent

Ridge and hip runs on dormers, porches, garages and additions

Color-matched repairs to an existing GAF shingle roof

Residential and light commercial steep-slope roofing

Product Details

Brand: GAF

Product Type: Hip & Ridge Cap Shingles

Color: Hickory

Material: Fiberglass-reinforced asphalt with mineral granule surfacing

Roof Area: Hips and ridges

Sold By: Bundle

Roof Type: Steep-slope asphalt shingle

Specifications

Size

20'

Brand

GAF

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1012/7743/4195/files/gaf-20-ft-hip-ridge-cap-shingles-hickory-hrhickgaf.webp?v=1790734556
