usp-24-in-insulation-supports-is24
USP 24 in. Insulation Supports

Insulation supports are stiff spring-wire rods that hold batt insulation up in a framing cavity without staples, twine or netting. The wire is cut slightly longer than the cavity it serves, so it bows when pushed into place and holds by spring tension against the joists.

The IS series from USP (now part of MiTek) is the standard version of this item: a plain carbon steel wire with chisel-cut ends that bite into the wood framing so the rod stays where it was set. Supports are pushed in after the batt is positioned, working from below, which makes them practical in crawl spaces and other areas where there is no room to work from above.

Rods are spaced along the run at whatever interval the batt needs to stay tight to the subfloor or deck, and they can be removed and reused if the insulation has to come down for wiring or plumbing work later.

Key Features

Spring-wire insulation support for holding batt insulation between joists

Made from 13 gauge carbon steel wire

Chisel-cut ends dig into the joist faces so the support holds its position

Supplied with no finish applied, for interior dry-service locations

Installs by hand from below: position the batt, hold the wire at its center and push it into the cavity

No fasteners, netting or twine required, and the rods can be pulled and reused

Holds unfaced or faced batts tight to the subfloor to close the air gap that reduces insulation performance

Sold by the pack for production work

Applications

Supporting floor insulation batts between joists over crawl spaces

Insulating floors above unconditioned basements, garages and porches

Holding batt insulation in place between roof or ceiling framing members

Re-securing sagging or fallen batts during retrofit and weatherization work

Temporary support of batts in cavities that will later receive a finished ceiling

Product Details

Brand: USP

Product Line: IS Series

Model: IS24

Type: Insulation support wire

Material: 13 gauge carbon steel wire

Finish: None

Framing Spacing: For joists spaced 24 in. on center

Installation: Push-in, no fasteners required

Specifications

Size

24"

Brand

USP

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1012/7743/4195/files/usp-24-in-insulation-supports-is24.webp?v=1790734560
