Bundle

Hip and ridge cap shingles in a Virginia Slate color blend, sold by the bundle for finishing the ridges and hips of an asphalt shingle roof. Cap shingles are pre-cut and pre-scored so each piece separates cleanly on the job and bends over the ridge without cracking.

Ridge caps close out the last course of field shingles where two roof planes meet, covering the exposed cut edges and the nail line while shedding water away from the joint. They are installed over the ridge or up the hip with the exposure lapped so that each fastener is concealed by the following piece.

The Virginia Slate color is a gray blend intended to coordinate with field shingles of the same shade, so the ridge line reads as part of the roof rather than as a separate trim detail.

Key Features

Pre-cut, pre-scored hip and ridge cap pieces that separate by hand on the roof

Asphalt construction that bends over a ridge or hip without splitting in moderate temperatures

Ceramic-coated mineral granule surface in a Virginia Slate gray blend

Installed with a concealed nailing pattern so fasteners are covered by the next cap

Covers the exposed cut edges of the final field shingle course at the ridge

Sold by the bundle, sized in linear feet of finished ridge coverage

Applications

Capping main roof ridges on asphalt shingle roofs

Finishing hips on hip and cross-hip roof framing

Closing out ridges above ridge vent on a ventilated roof assembly

Dormer and porch roof ridges on residential re-roofing

Repair and replacement of damaged or weathered ridge caps

Product Details

Type: Hip and ridge cap shingles

Color: Virginia Slate

Material: Asphalt with mineral granule surfacing

Coverage: 30 linear feet per bundle

Sold By: Bundle

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1012/7743/4195/files/virginia-slate-hip-ridge-shingles-30-lin-ft-bundle-hrv.webp?v=1790734559
