34-in-x-6-1-8-in-metal-door-frame-head-mdh34618
34 in. x 6-1/8 in. Metal Door Frame Head

The head is the horizontal top member of a hollow metal door frame, spanning between the two jambs above the door opening. On knock-down (KD) frames it ships loose and is assembled on site, with tabs or clips at each end that lock into the hinge and strike jambs once the frame is set in the opening.

Like the jambs it mates with, the head is roll-formed or press-braked steel with an integral stop and rabbet that receives the door and, where used, the head-mounted closer or hold-open hardware. Frame depth must match the wall thickness so the returns bear evenly on both faces of the partition.

Sold as a single piece so a damaged or missing head can be replaced without buying a complete frame, provided the profile, depth and gauge match the existing jambs.

Key Features

Horizontal head member for a hollow metal door frame

Formed steel profile with integral stop and door rabbet

End tabs or clips for knock-down assembly to matching jambs

Frame depth sized to the partition thickness so returns sit flush on both wall faces

Accepts head-mounted hardware such as closers, hold-opens and stops

Supplied as a single piece for repair or replacement of an existing frame

Applications

Assembly of knock-down hollow metal door frames in commercial interiors

Replacement of a damaged head on an existing steel frame

Stud-partition openings in offices, schools and institutional buildings

Mechanical, electrical and storage room door openings

Corridor and stairwell door openings in multi-family buildings

Product Details

Type: Metal door frame head

Material: Formed steel

Component: Head member only

Assembly: Knock-down, field assembled to jambs

Sold As: Each

Specifications

Dimensions

34" x 6-1/8"

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1012/7743/4195/files/34-in-x-6-1-8-in-metal-door-frame-head-mdh34618.webp?v=1790734582
