A metal access panel used to create a serviceable opening in drywall, plaster, masonry or ceiling assemblies. The frame is set into the rough opening and fastened to the surrounding framing or substrate, leaving a flush door face that can be opened whenever the concealed work behind it needs attention.

Access doors of this type are specified wherever valves, cleanouts, dampers, junction boxes, shutoffs or wiring are buried in a finished wall or ceiling but still have to be reached. The steel door is hinged to the frame and held shut with a latch, so the opening stays closed and tidy between service visits.

Panels ship with a factory finish suitable for painting to match the surrounding wall or ceiling once the frame has been mudded or trimmed in.
