A solid clay masonry unit in the standard red color, sold individually. Unlike cored or hollow units, a solid brick has no voids through its bed faces, so it can be cut, laid on edge, or used where a continuous bearing face and full mortar contact are wanted.

Fired clay brick is dimensionally stable, non-combustible and resistant to weather and freeze-thaw exposure, which is why it remains the default unit for veneer, garden walls and repair work on existing brick. Units are laid in a cement-lime or masonry cement mortar with head and bed joints tooled to shed water.

Because color and texture vary slightly from batch to batch, blending units from more than one bundle helps avoid banding in the finished wall, and matching to existing brickwork should be checked against a sample before laying up a full course.
