Hot-rolled structural steel angle with unequal legs, supplied in a cut length. The L-shaped profile puts material at right angles to itself, which gives the section stiffness in two planes and makes it a common choice for lintels, framing, bracing and fabricated supports.

Angle is worked with ordinary shop and field methods. It can be drilled, punched, sheared, torch-cut and welded, and it takes bolted connections through either leg. The unequal leg arrangement lets the longer leg carry the span or bearing face while the shorter leg provides the connecting surface.

Mill finish steel arrives with a dark scale on the surface. For exposed or damp locations the angle is normally cleaned and then primed, painted or galvanized after fabrication.
