An offset angle bracket is a formed metal framing connector with two flanges joined at an angle and a step, or offset, between them. The offset lets the two fastening faces sit on planes that are not flush with one another, so the connector can tie together members whose surfaces are separated by the thickness of sheathing, a ledger, a shim or a second framing member.

Both flanges are pre-punched with fastener holes so the bracket can be nailed or screwed in place without drilling. It is used where a plain L-shaped angle would not lie flat against both members, and it is installed in pairs or repeated at intervals along a joint as the connection requires.

Supplied individually.

Key Features

  • Formed metal connector with two fastening flanges meeting at an angle
  • Stepped offset between flanges lets the bracket bridge members on different planes
  • Pre-punched fastener holes on both flanges for nails or structural screws
  • Installs from the face of the framing with common hand or pneumatic tools
  • Can be used singly or repeated along a joint to suit the connection
  • Sold individually by the piece

Applications

  • Connecting framing members whose faces are offset by sheathing or a shim
  • Attaching ledgers, blocking and nailers to studs or posts
  • Reinforcing corners and intersections in wood framing
  • Cabinet, casework and millwork anchoring to framed walls
  • General repair and retrofit work where a flush angle will not seat
