1/2 in. Square Double Twist Iron Baluster
A square iron baluster with a double twist detail worked into the center of the bar, used as the vertical infill between a stair tread or shoe rail and the handrail above. The twisted section breaks up the plain bar visually while the plain square ends stay clean for cutting and anchoring.
Iron balusters of this style are installed in place of wood turnings on remodels and new stairs alike. The ends are typically set into drilled holes in the tread and handrail, secured with epoxy or set screws, and finished with shoe plates at the base to hide the hole and hold alignment.
