A dry-cutting diamond blade sized for a standard angle grinder, intended for tile, granite and other hard masonry-type materials. Blades of this class cut by abrasion rather than with teeth: industrial diamond is bonded into the rim, and the rim grinds its way through material that would chip or destroy a toothed blade.

Dry cutting means the blade is run without a water feed, so it can be taken to the work instead of the work being taken to a wet saw. That makes it the usual choice for on-site trimming, notching and cutouts, and for touching up pieces already set or dry-laid. Because there is no water to carry away heat, the blade is worked in short passes and allowed to spin free between them, and the cut is stepped down in several passes rather than forced through in one.

Dry cutting produces dust, so it is normally paired with respiratory protection, eye protection and a guard, and with dust extraction where the work is indoors or the material is silica-bearing stone.
