9/16 in. x 5-1/4 in. x 16 ft. Base Moulding (#L514)
Base moulding run in the L514 profile, a wide colonial-style baseboard used to close the joint between finished wall and floor. The back face is flat for bearing against the wall, the top edge carries the decorative profile, and the stock is milled to a consistent thickness so lengths butt and scarf cleanly along a long wall.
Baseboard of this width is generally installed after flooring and painting are underway, fastened through the drywall into studs and bottom plate. Inside corners are typically coped and outside corners mitered; the height gives enough face to hide floor gaps and to accept a shoe or cap moulding if a two-piece base is wanted.
Sold by the piece in 16 ft. lengths, which reduces the number of splices needed in longer rooms and hallways.
