The No. 7009 end turn is a machined stair fitting used to terminate a run of handrail. Instead of leaving a cut end exposed against a wall or newel, the end turn carries the handrail profile around a short radius and closes it off with a finished return, giving the rail a deliberate stopping point at a landing, a starting step or a wall-mounted termination.

The fitting is milled from oak, a close-grained hardwood commonly specified for stair parts because it machines cleanly, holds a crisp profile and takes stain or clear finish evenly. Like other handrail fittings, it is supplied unfinished so it can be sanded, stained and topcoated to match the handrail, treads and newels on the job.

End turns are cut to length on site and joined to the handrail with a rail bolt and glue block, or with dowel screws and adhesive, then the joint is sanded flush so the profile runs continuously through the splice.
