An access panel is the serviceable opening you leave behind after the drywall goes up: a framed plastic door set into a wall or ceiling so valves, cleanouts, junction boxes and cable runs stay reachable without cutting and patching board. The Karp Handi-Access is the economical end of that family, a one-piece styrene frame and panel that finishes the hole cleanly and reads as a flat white square in the surface.

The door hangs on a pivot hinge, so it swings open for routine service and lifts out entirely when a plumber or electrician needs both hands and full reach into the cavity. A snap friction catch holds it closed, with no key, cam latch or screwdriver required to open it, which suits interior locations where control of access is not a concern.

Installation does not rely on fasteners into framing. Adhesive or caulk is run around the back of the frame and the assembly is pressed into the cut opening, which makes it practical in retrofit work where the opening was made after the fact. The lightly textured white face can be left as is or painted or papered to disappear into the surrounding finish. It is not a rated assembly, so where the panel interrupts a fire-rated wall or ceiling, a listed fire-rated door is required instead.
