Vinyl rock is gypsum wallboard with a decorative vinyl film laminated to the face. The covering is factory applied, so the panel arrives finished: no taping, skim coat, primer or paint is needed once the board is hung. It is cut and fastened much like standard gypsum board, though the finished face calls for care in handling to avoid scuffs and creases at the corners.

The small panel format suits patch work, closet and cabinet interiors, and areas where full sheets are awkward to carry or maneuver. Joints are normally covered with matching vinyl or metal battens rather than compound, and fasteners are set with color-matched trim or adhesive so the face stays intact. Panels ship by the box, covering 32 square feet.
