DAP Plastic Wood All Purpose Wood Filler is a latex-based filler for repairing nail holes, gouges, cracks, scratches and other surface defects in bare or finished wood. The Red Oak tint is matched to the tone of red oak trim and casework, so fills read as part of the surrounding grain rather than as patches once the work is sanded and finished.

The formula is a thick, knife-grade paste that can be molded and sculpted, which makes it workable on corners, vertical faces and unsupported edges where a loose filler would slump. It is low in odor and cleans up with water while wet. Once dry it can be sanded, cut, planed, drilled, nailed or screwed, and it takes both stain and paint, so it suits finish carpentry, cabinet repair and touch-up ahead of a final coat.

As with any tinted filler, it is worth testing the filler and the intended stain on a scrap piece before working on the finished surface, since filler and wood absorb stain differently. Deeper fills are built up in thin layers and given time to dry through before sanding.
