DensGlass Sheathing is Georgia-Pacific's fiberglass mat gypsum panel for exterior wall, ceiling and soffit substrates. The gypsum core is treated for water resistance and the panel is faced front and back with a fiberglass mat rather than paper, then finished with the gold-colored coating the product is recognized by on the jobsite.

Because there is no paper facing to feed mold or delaminate when it gets wet, the panel is used where a rigid substrate has to stand up to weather between dry-in and cladding. Georgia-Pacific rates it for up to 12 months of normal weather exposure during construction, and it serves as the base for air and water-resistive barrier systems applied in the field, whether fluid-applied, sheet or self-adhered.

Panels are cut by scoring and snapping and are screw-attached to steel or wood framing with corrosion-resistant fasteners, the same sequence as any gypsum sheathing. Joints are then treated with the barrier system or joint treatment specified for the assembly before brick, stone, stucco, EIFS, or siding goes on.
