A marble saddle is a single-piece stone threshold used at doorways and floor transitions, most often between a bathroom and a hallway or where tile meets another flooring material. The slab is cut to span a standard door opening and finished on the exposed long edges so it reads as a clean, finished transition once set.

White marble takes a polished surface that suits bathroom and powder room work, and the natural veining varies piece to piece. The stone is set in thinset or mortar over the subfloor or curb, then caulked at the jambs and along the tile joint rather than grouted tight, so the transition can move with the adjoining floors.

Saddles are also used across shower curbs, where the stone caps the curb and gives the shower door or splash edge a solid bearing surface. Because it is a solid stone, it can be cut down to length and have new edges shaped on site with a wet saw and polishing pads.
