A solid oak stair handrail in the #6010 pattern, one of the standard graspable profiles used throughout residential stair work. It is supplied as a straight length that is cut, mitered and fitted on site to suit the rise and run of the stair.

Oak is used for handrail because it is dense enough to hold fasteners and machined joinery at rail bolt connections and takes stain and clear finish evenly. The rail can be run over balusters between newel posts, returned to a wall with a rail fitting, or mounted on wall brackets as a continuous grab rail.

Rail lengths are typically joined to newels and to fittings such as volutes, easings, returns and goosenecks with rail bolts and glue blocks, then sanded and finished after installation.
