The #6010 is one of the most widely milled stair handrail profiles in North American residential work: a rounded, graspable crown over a narrower bottom section, with a small return under each side for a traditional colonial appearance. This one is machined from solid oak, a dense hardwood that takes stain evenly and holds crisp detail along the milled edges.

Handrail of this type runs between newel posts in a post-to-post system, over fittings in an over-the-post system, or along a wall on metal brackets. It is supplied as a full-length stick so the installer can cut miters, easements and rail returns on site to suit the stair pitch.

Oak is left unfinished for staining, clear coating or paint after fitting. Long lengths should be supported at both ends and kept flat until installation to keep the run straight.
