Stop moulding is the thin strip applied to a door or window jamb that the door or sash closes against. On a door frame it sets the stop line and conceals the gap between the slab and the jamb; on double-hung and other window units it holds the sash in its track and can be removed for sash service without disturbing the surrounding casing.

This is profile #47, supplied with a factory primer coat so it can be filled, sanded lightly and finish-painted on site. The primer seals the face and edges and gives topcoat a uniform base, which matters on trim that sits at eye level next to a painted jamb.

The stock is run in long single lengths, letting a trim carpenter cut full jamb legs and head pieces from one piece with square or mitred returns at the corners.
