Chair rail moulding in the LWM297 profile, supplied factory primed and ready for finish paint. The profile is applied horizontally to a wall, traditionally at the height where chair backs would otherwise mar the plaster or drywall, and now more often used as a decorative band or as the cap on wainscot and beadboard panelling.

The primed surface gives paint a uniform base and reduces the number of finish coats needed on site. Like all solid trim of this type, it is installed with finish nails into studs or blocking, mitred at outside corners and coped at inside corners for a tight joint that stays closed as the wall moves.

LWM numbers are the industry profile designations used by moulding manufacturers, so a piece specified as LWM297 will match the same profile from another supplier when a run has to be extended or a damaged length replaced.
