Slotted angle is a length of L-shaped steel punched with a repeating pattern of slots and holes along both legs. The perforations let pieces be bolted to one another, cut to length, or lapped and joined without drilling, so the same stock can be assembled into shelving uprights, racking frames, light equipment stands and bracing.

The 90-degree profile gives the bar stiffness in two planes, and the slots accept standard bolts, nuts and washers for field assembly. Because it is sold in a single continuous length, it can be cut down with a bandsaw, chop saw or abrasive wheel and reused as shorter members without losing the fastening pattern.
