Soprema Select APP Poly Sanded is an APP (atactic polypropylene) modified bitumen roofing membrane reinforced with a non-woven polyester mat, which adds tensile strength and puncture resistance to the sheet. APP modification raises the softening point of the asphalt compound relative to unmodified bitumen, so the membrane holds up to heat and weathering on exposed low-slope decks.

The sanded finish is a parting surface that keeps the roll from sticking to itself and gives adhesives and hot asphalt something to key into. Sheets finished this way are intended to be covered rather than left as the final wearing surface, so they are normally run as a base or interply sheet beneath a granulated cap, or left smooth to receive a reflective coating or aggregate surfacing.

APP-modified sheets in this class are ordinarily torch-applied, with the propane flame melting the underside of the roll into a continuous bond and sealing the side and end laps as the sheet is rolled out. Membrane is supplied in rolls sized by the square, the standard roofing coverage unit.
