Asphalt fabric membrane is a roll-good reinforcing fabric used with asphalt roof cement, mastic or hot asphalt to build up flashings, seal seams and patch weathered roofing. The open-weave carrier saturates with bitumen and locks it in place, bridging joints and cracks that cement alone would shrink away from or crack over.

The narrow roll width suits linear work: valleys, base and counter flashings, pipe and curb penetrations, parapet transitions and lap seams on built-up and modified bitumen roofs. It is embedded in a first coat of cement, rolled or brushed flat to work the bitumen through the weave, then covered with a second coat so the fabric is fully encapsulated.

Supplied by the roll and cut to length on the roof with a knife or shears, making it a standard item on a repair truck alongside plastic roof cement and a trowel.
