One edge is milled with a rounded bullnose that matches the nosing profile of the stair treads, while the opposite edge is rabbeted so the moulding sits down over the subfloor and butts cleanly into the adjoining floor covering.

This piece is milled from solid oak, a dense, closed-grain hardwood commonly specified for stair parts because it wears well under traffic and takes stain and clear finish consistently alongside oak treads, risers and flooring. It is supplied unfinished so it can be sanded and finished on site to match the rest of the stair system. Profile #68 refers to the mill's pattern number for this landing tread section.
