Hot-rolled steel angle with unequal legs, an L-shaped structural section used wherever a stiff, weldable corner member is needed. The two legs meet at a right angle with a small radius at the heel, giving the bar far more rigidity than flat stock of the same thickness.

Angle is supplied as mill-finish carbon steel, unpainted, and takes drilling, punching, torch cutting and arc welding with ordinary shop equipment. Because it is left bare it will develop surface rust on exposure and is normally primed, painted or galvanized after fabrication if it will be left outdoors.

The unequal-leg profile lets the wider leg carry the bearing or bolting surface while the narrower leg is fixed to the adjoining member, which is useful for lintels, shelf angles and edge trim conditions.
