Melamine board is a particleboard or MDF core faced on both sides with a thermally fused melamine resin laminate. The facing is hard, non-porous and washable, so the panel needs no paint, edge sealing or finish work once it is cut and fastened.

This piece comes as a pre-cut shelving-width board, a common size for closet shelves, cabinet decks and utility storage. The factory-finished faces mean the board is ready to install after cutting to length and edge-banding or trimming the exposed cut ends.

Cut melamine with a fine-tooth or triple-chip blade and score the face to limit chipping at the laminate surface. Pre-drill for screws near ends and edges, since the engineered core splits more readily than solid wood.
