Primed pine board is a solid softwood trim stock that arrives with a factory-applied primer coat on its faces and edges, ready to be cut, installed and finish painted. The primer seals the wood so the board takes topcoat paint evenly and needs less field preparation than raw lumber.

Nominal 1 in. pine boards are the standard carcass of painted interior trim work: casing, base, shelving, jambs and built-up assemblies. The material machines and fastens cleanly, takes nails and screws without pre-drilling in most cases, and can be scribed or coped to fit irregular openings.

As with any paint-grade board, cut ends and any exposed raw wood should be primed before finishing, and the board should be kept flat and dry until installed.
