Primed pine board sold as a finished trim piece, milled from softwood stock and surfaced on all four sides with eased edges. The factory primer coat is applied at the mill so the board arrives ready for a finish coat once it has been cut, fitted and fastened.

Nominal 1 in. stock of this width is the usual choice for casing, fascia, frieze and utility trim where a paint-grade surface is wanted rather than exposed grain. Pine holds fasteners well, takes a clean cut with a mitre saw and can be worked with standard hand and power tools.

Prime coats seal the surface and reduce grain raise and uneven absorption when the topcoat goes on. Cut ends and any exposed fastener heads should be primed and filled before painting, and boards used outdoors should be back-primed and kept off direct ground contact.
