A flat-face interior door slab with a medium-density fiberboard skin over a solid core, shipped primed and ready for finish paint. The smooth, grainless MDF surface takes paint evenly without the telegraphing or raised grain common to wood-veneer doors, so a light sanding and two topcoats give a furniture-smooth finish.

Solid core construction adds mass compared with a hollow-core slab, which improves sound attenuation between rooms and gives the door a more substantial feel in the hand and at the latch. The slab arrives unbored and without hinge mortises, so hardware locations are laid out to match the existing jamb or a new prehung frame.

Standard interior thickness makes it compatible with common residential hinges, bore kits and passage or privacy sets. Trim allowances at the stiles and rails should be checked before cutting, as MDF-skinned slabs tolerate only modest sizing.
