An angle bracket post kit supplies the metal brackets and fasteners used to anchor a stair or balcony post to a floor, tread or stringer. The brackets sit at the base of the post, one leg screwed into the post itself and the other into the framing or subfloor below, transferring load from the post into structure rather than relying on the post's end grain alone.

Bracket-and-fastener mounting is the common alternative to a threaded newel fastener or a bolt-through installation, and it suits situations where the post lands on a finished framed surface and the base can be concealed by trim, a base moulding or a post shoe. Installation is straightforward: plumb the post, mark and drill pilot holes, then drive the supplied screws through each bracket leg.
