Landing tread is the milled oak moulding that finishes the floor edge at the top of a stair run or around a stairwell opening. One edge carries a rounded bullnose that matches the nosing profile of the stair treads below it, while the opposite edge is rabbeted or milled flat so it sits flush against finish flooring and covers the exposed end grain of the boards.

Milled from solid red oak, this landing tread takes stain and clear finish the same way oak treads and flooring do, so the nosing at the landing reads as a continuation of the staircase rather than a separate trim piece. It is supplied unfinished for sanding and finishing on site after installation.

Installation is conventional trim carpentry: cut to length, scribe or mitre returns at the ends where the tread is exposed, then glue and face- or blind-nail to the subfloor and header framing.
