Washed crushed stone graded to a nominal 3/4 in. size, bagged for small-batch concrete work, drainage and general site use. Coarse aggregate of this size is the standard stone component in most mix designs, giving the cured concrete its bulk and compressive strength while reducing the volume of cement paste required.

Angular, uniformly sized stone interlocks under load and drains freely, which is why the same material serves both as a mix ingredient and as a loose base or backfill layer. The bagged format suits repairs, patches and other jobs too small to justify a bulk load.

Proportion it with sand and portland cement for site-mixed concrete, or place and compact it on its own beneath slabs, pavers and footings.

Key Features

  • Nominal 3/4 in. coarse aggregate, the common stone size for standard concrete mixes
  • Supplied in a 50 lb. bag for small batches and repair work
  • Angular crushed stone interlocks when compacted, resisting shifting under load
  • Open grading drains freely, relieving hydrostatic pressure behind walls and under slabs
  • Inert mineral material that does not rot, burn or decompose
  • Combines with sand and portland cement to produce site-mixed concrete

Applications

  • Coarse aggregate for hand-mixed or machine-mixed concrete
  • Compacted base course under slabs, walkways and pavers
  • Backfill for footing drains and French drains
  • Bedding for pipe and conduit trenches
  • Fill around form work and post holes
  • Loose surfacing for paths and equipment pads
